IP Location Definitions
IP Address - The Internet Protocol Address is the computer address
that every device must have in order to connect to the internet, it is a
unique address that enables secure and private communications to be
conducted over the internet
Country - The country that the IP address has been assigned to
Region - The region within the country that the IP Address has
been assigned to
City - The city within the region that the IP Address has been
assigned to
ISP - This is the internet service provider that has been assigned
the right to use the IP address
Latitude - This the latitude in decimal degrees of the location
that has been assigned to the IP address and retrieved from the IP
Geolocation database. It is only as accurate as the data in the database
Longitude - This the longitude in decimal degrees of the location
that has been assigned to the IP address and retrieved from the IP
Geolocation database. It is only as accurate as the data in the database
Geolocation - The matching of an IP Address to a physical
location, or Geolocation, is performed by pulling the data from a database.
The database is a commercial product and can never be 100% accurate because
of changing users, but most of the data can give a useful indication of the
location where the IP Address is been used
Uses Of Geolocation - There are many uses of Geolocation data, in
ecommerce, SEO (search engine optimization) and other website services it is
useful to know the location of web surfers and buyers so that the website
content can be tailored better to the needs of the viewer in their
particular location
